Pharmacokinetics:
After subcutaneous injection, doramectin is gradually absorbed into the systemic circulation, and the rate of absorption and bioavailability vary depending on the animal species, site of injection, and composition of the preparation.
Doramectin is highly bound to proteins and fats, and has lipophilic properties, which leads to its distribution in adipose tissue and its persistence for a relatively long period in the body.
It reaches the tissues and sites where the targeted parasites are located, and affects mainly by affecting chloride channels regulated by glutamate in the nervous and muscular systems of the parasites, leading to their paralysis and death.
Doramectin is metabolized to a limited extent, and is eliminated mainly in the feces, with less contribution from other routes of excretion.
Its fatty properties and its persistence in the tissues contribute to prolonging the duration of its effect, and may also lead to the residue remaining in the tissues for a relatively long period, which must be reflected in determining the withdrawal period.
Indications
It is used to treat and control susceptible internal and external parasites in cattle, sheep, and goats, including:
Internal parasites, gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworms, some types of nematodes, and external parasites.
Lice, ticks, scabies (sarcoptism and demodex), flies and skin larvae (depending on species)
Usage and Dosage
It is given by subcutaneous injection only. It is preferable to inject into the neck or behind the shoulder. Good sterilization conditions are observed.
Dosage and duration of use: (630) mcg/kg
Sheep, goats and cows: 1 ml / 50 kg live weight.
Do not give more than 10 ml per injection site. In areas where tick eradication is planned,

Overdose:
If doses higher than recommended are given,:
Ataxia, tremor, nervous depression. Treatment: supportive and symptomatic only, and there is no specific antidote.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
Severely sick or weak animals. Not for use by intravenous or intramuscular injection. Not for use in non-target animals.
Side Effects
You may sometimes notice: Transient swelling or pain at the injection site. Mild and temporary lethargy. In rare cases: neurological symptoms at high doses.
Warnings
It should not be given to lactating animals or within 60 days before giving birth.
- Possibility of transient local irritation at the injection site.
Skin myiasis in cows must be treated after the end of the season of flies causing the infection.
Withdrawal Period
Meat: 120 days. It is not permitted for use in lactating animals that produce milk for human consumption.
Use During Pregnancy, Lactation, and Egg Production:
It can be used for pregnant cows and ewes.
Not for use in pregnant cows intended to produce milk for human consumption within two months of expected calving.
Not for use in pregnant ewes, intended to produce milk for human consumption, within 70 days of expected calving.
