Pharmacokinetics:
It is rapidly distributed through the extracellular fluid. The kidneys are the primary site of excretion of sodium and chlorine, with reabsorption as physiologically required.
It is not metabolized as a compound; Rather, it is filtered and directed.

Indications
It is used in cattle, horses, sheep, goats, dogs, and cats in:
Treating cases of dehydration, loss of water and electrolytes resulting from diarrhea, vomiting, burns, infectious diseases, post-surgery, or trauma.
Correcting sodium or chlorine deficiency (hyponatraemia/hypochloraemia).
Correction of metabolic alkalosis associated with chlorine loss. As a solvent and transport vehicle for compatible drugs. In some cases, washing wounds and mucus.
Usage and Dosage
Common methods of administration
Intravenous (IV): The primary method of rapid replacement.
Subcutaneous (SC): In some cases and in reduced amounts (as directed by the doctor).
Estimated intravenous dose
Type of animal: Cows/horses 500 – 3000 ml or depending on fluid loss, sheep/goats 100 – 500 ml, pigs 10 – 150 ml,
Dogs: 20 – 100 ml, Cats: approximately 10 – 50 ml
The dose and speed of administration can be adjusted depending on the state of dehydration and veterinary tests.
Duration of treatment: until correction of dehydration and electrolyte balance (may require one or several sessions depending on the case).

Contraindications
Do not use in animals suffering from:
Excessive sodium or chlorine in the blood (Hypernatraemia/Hyperchloraemia).
Sodium and water retention (heart/kidney/liver failure with edema). Watery hyperhydration, edema or ascites. Conditions requiring sodium restriction.
Warnings
Check the clarity of the solution and the integrity of the packaging before use. Use with caution in heart/kidney failure, or with drugs that cause sodium retention.
Do not use for prolonged periods as basic fluids without proper electrolyte balance.
