Indications of Dexafen (Phenylbutazone and Dexamethasone injection)

Anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, and analgesic for the treatment of arthritis, tendonitis, laminitis, muscular and joint rheumatism, congestion processes, hyperthermia, sunstroke, inflammatory complications of various traumatic or bacterial infections (with an approved antibiotic if necessary) in horses, dogs, and cats.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to active substances.
Do not use in animals with heart, liver, or kidney disease.
It should be avoided during pregnancy whenever possible, especially during the first trimester.

Side Effects

Dexafen (Phenylbutazone and Dexamethasone injection) can cause gastrointestinal disorders (irritation of the gastrointestinal mucosa, colic, diarrhea), depression, anorexia, blood disorders, a decrease in platelet aggregation (petechiae, hemorrhage), phlebitis, and edema. At the first symptoms, it is recommended to leave the treatment.

Warnings

* Do not exceed the prescribed dose or duration of treatment.
* The treatment of racehorses must be stopped at least five days before the race (anesthesia).
* Use should be avoided during pregnancy whenever possible, especially during the first trimester.
* Admin Phenylbutazone to horses older than two years
* Not given before any surgical procedure
