Diarrhea in animals
Diarrhea occurs when there is an increase in fluids entering the intestinal tract, or when the intestinal tract is unable to adequately absorb all the fluids, or increased intestinal contractility, which reduces the time required for absorption to occur, or increased secretion of fluids from the intestinal wall. Diarrhea is also usually caused by * Indigestion associated with dietary changes. * Rumen acidity. * Bacterial enteritis. * Inflammation of the intestine caused by protozoa * Intestinal worms and parasites. * Coccidiosis. * Viral diarrhea * Plant and chemical poisoning * Copper deficiency is a less common possible cause of diarrhea. Coli-Vit Powder (Veterinary Antidiarrheal) provides a number of important vitamins that increase the animal's tolerance. It also contains neomycin sulfate and sodium sulfadiazine to eliminate bacteria if they are the cause of diarrhea.
